Teachstead is a web application for private music and voice teachers, academic tutors, and small studios. It brings scheduling, attendance-based invoicing, make-up credits, group classes, messages, homework, a practice library, and AI lesson summaries into one place. Website publishing and video teaching are optional paid add-ons.

Solo costs $17/month or $170/year for one teacher; Studio costs $34/month or $340/year for up to 3 teachers; Multi-Teacher costs $69/month or $690/year for up to 10 teachers. Plans include unlimited students. Teacher seats, AI summaries, transcript allowances, and storage vary by plan. Website and video add-ons are priced separately. Prices are in USD.

No. Start a 30-day trial of the studio management tools without a credit card. A trial does not automatically enable every paid add-on. Review website and video options in Settings → Billing.

Yes. The Website/Funnel add-on costs $19/month or $190/year, in addition to your studio plan. Change colors, fonts, spacing, section order, images, and layouts; add teacher profiles, lesson pricing, booking links, group classes, FAQs, and inquiry forms. Collect inquiries in Teachstead and turn them into student records.

Yes. The visual editor uses the same website components as the published page. Edit text on the canvas, rearrange sections, and preview phone, tablet, and desktop widths. Save a draft while your existing published page stays live, then publish when you are ready. Saved revisions let you restore earlier draft content.

Studio websites currently publish at a Teachstead-hosted address, such as teachstead.com/s/your-studio. Connecting your own domain is not available in the current website builder. You can link to your Teachstead site or booking page from an existing website.

You choose whether to accept online self-booking or have families contact you directly. Online booking uses your lesson types, teacher availability, buffers, and booking policies. A studio website can send visitors to booking or to an inquiry form. You can also add lessons yourself.

Yes. Create group sessions with a capacity, track the roster and attendance, and let families reserve seats from your public class page. Enable a waitlist when a class fills up. In-person group classes do not require a video add-on. Group Video Classes is a separate add-on for online group teaching.

The optional 1:1 Video Lessons add-on starts at $12.99/month. Solo Video, Studio Video, and Multi Video have different participant-minute and transcript allowances. Group Video Classes costs $29/month or $290/year and includes 3,000 participant-minutes per month. These are separate from the core studio plan.

A participant-minute is one person connected to a video lesson for one minute. A 30-minute lesson with a teacher and one student uses about 60 participant-minutes. A 30-minute class with a teacher and four students uses about 150. Transcript allowances are listed separately.

Teachstead video rooms have audio and video recording disabled. Optional live transcription creates text that can be used to draft a lesson summary. Teachers can separately record a voice note after a lesson, and students can upload practice recordings to assignments. Those uploads are different from recording a video call.

Record a voice note after a lesson or use an available lesson transcript. Teachstead drafts a family-facing summary, a practice plan, and a private teacher note for review. Solo includes 10 summaries per month, Studio 50, and Multi-Teacher 150. Extra summary packs are available in Billing. Review drafts before sharing them.

Yes. Portal messages, homework assignments, and student submissions are included on every core plan. Attach PDFs, images, or audio, and collect notes or supported files in return. The practice library lets you reuse resources across students and track completion. Optional buddy rewards give students another reason to keep practicing.

Teachstead generates monthly invoices from lesson attendance and your billing rules, including billable absences where your policy applies. With Stripe connected, families can pay invoices by card. Teachers can also record cash, Venmo, or Zelle payments received outside Teachstead. Reminder settings help you follow up on outstanding invoices.

Stripe charges processing fees for card payments; rates depend on your country, payment method, and Stripe agreement. Teachstead does not add a processing markup. Recording an external payment in Teachstead does not process that payment; any fees charged by the external service still apply.

Your cancellation and attendance policies determine when a student receives a make-up credit. Teachstead tracks issued credits and their use when a replacement lesson is booked. You can review credit history instead of maintaining a separate spreadsheet.

Yes. Connect Google Calendar or iCloud to bring external busy periods into your availability and send lessons to your connected calendar. Sync depends on the connection staying authorized; check calendar status if you change credentials or calendars.

Owners and instructors count toward the teacher limit: 1 on Solo, 3 on Studio, and 10 on Multi-Teacher. Assistants who help administer the studio do not count as teaching seats.

Manage your subscription from Settings → Billing. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid billing period. Website publishing and video access depend on an eligible subscription and their respective add-ons. Review the billing screen for your next renewal and cancellation status.

You can request a data export or account deletion through Teachstead support. Our privacy policy explains retention and deletion, including records that may need to be retained for legal or billing purposes.
