Who Teachstead is for

Teachstead is built for independent instructors and small studios that teach music, voice, or academic subjects in person or online. The platform scales from a single voice or music studio teacher running 15 students solo to a multi-teacher music studio or tutoring center with up to 10 instructors. If you bill families monthly, juggle make-up lessons, and spend time each week on scheduling and invoicing, Teachstead is designed to remove that overhead.

What Teachstead does

Teachstead is a studio management and lesson platform. It covers the full operational loop of running a teaching practice:

Customizable studio website (add-on)

Build a Teachstead-hosted studio website with visual editing, your own colors and fonts, responsive previews, teacher profiles, lesson pricing, and inquiry forms. Draft and published versions stay separate.

Group classes and waitlists

Create group sessions, set capacity, accept seat reservations, manage a waitlist, and track class attendance. Online group teaching requires the separate Group Video Classes add-on.

Studio scheduling

Set weekly availability, buffer time between lessons, blocked dates, and booking policies. Families self-book from times you actually have free; recurring lessons fill the calendar automatically.

Attendance-based invoicing and studio billing

Lessons you teach become line items. Monthly invoices generate from real attendance. Families pay by card through Stripe, or you log cash, Venmo, and Zelle payments against the invoice.

Virtual lessons with live transcription

An optional add-on for browser 1:1 video teaching with audio settings designed for music. Optional live transcription can feed an AI summary draft for review. Audio and video call recording is disabled.

AI lesson summaries

Record a short voice note after a lesson. Teachstead drafts a parent-ready summary, a practice plan, and a private teacher note. You review and approve before anything is sent.

Make-up credits

Cancellation and attendance policies determine when make-up credits are issued. Track the credit history and use eligible credits for replacement lessons.

Parent and student portal

Families see upcoming lessons, invoices, summaries, messages, and homework in one place. Students can upload practice recordings, mark assignments complete, and message their teacher.

Practice library

Build a reusable bank of practice resources — videos, audio clips, PDFs, and links — and assign them per student. Students mark each resource complete from their portal.

Two-way calendar sync

Teachstead syncs bidirectionally with Google Calendar and iCloud so busy blocks from personal calendars keep lesson slots accurate.

Teachstead offers three plans billed monthly or annually. All plans include studio scheduling, studio billing, make-up credits, portal messages, homework assignments, and two-way calendar sync. Plans differ by the number of instructor seats, AI summary and transcript allowances, and storage.

   Add your lesson types, rates, and weekly availability. Choose online booking or contact-only inquiries before sharing your link.

   Add students by name and email, or share your booking link. Families get portal access to see lessons, invoices, messages, and homework.

   Mark attendance with one tap (or let auto-attendance do it), record a voice note for a lesson summary, and let invoices generate from real attendance at the end of the month.
