The admin hours, handled

Teachstead covers the whole loop of running a private studio: a family books, you teach, attendance is marked, homework is assigned, the invoice goes out, and everyone knows what to practice.

Scheduling built around a teaching week

Set weekly availability per teacher, buffer minutes between lessons, blocked dates, and how far ahead families can book. Recurring weekly lessons fill the calendar once and keep going; exceptions and holidays are one tap.

Billing that follows attendance

Lessons you taught become line items. Monthly invoices generate on the 1st, families pay by card through Stripe or you log Venmo / Zelle / cash, and overdue reminders go out without you writing a single awkward text.

For Jonah’s dad

Jonah’s left hand is getting steadier — the C major scale is clean at 80 bpm. This week: hands together, slow, bars 1–8 of the Clementi.

+ practice checklist + your private note. Review before anything sends.

Lesson summaries from a voice note

Talk for 30 seconds after a lesson. Teachstead drafts a parent-ready summary, a practice plan, and a private note for your records. You review and approve before anything is sent - nothing goes out on its own.

Portal messages and homework in one record

Send a student a quick answer, assign homework, attach a PDF, image, or audio file, and review their response from the same profile. The portal keeps questions and practice tasks out of scattered texts.

A practice library between lessons

Build a reusable bank of practice resources — links, videos, audio, and PDFs — once, then assign them to students. They watch and mark each one complete from their portal, and per-student completion ties into homework and buddy rewards. No more re-sending the same warm-up every week.

Questions teachers ask

Can I build a customizable studio website?

Yes. The Website/Funnel add-on costs $19/month or $190/year, in addition to your studio plan. Change colors, fonts, spacing, section order, images, and layouts; add teacher profiles, lesson pricing, booking links, group classes, FAQs, and inquiry forms. Collect inquiries in Teachstead and turn them into student records.

Can I offer group classes and waitlists?

Yes. Create group sessions with a capacity, track the roster and attendance, and let families reserve seats from your public class page. Enable a waitlist when a class fills up. In-person group classes do not require a video add-on. Group Video Classes is a separate add-on for online group teaching.

Are video lessons recorded?

Teachstead video rooms have audio and video recording disabled. Optional live transcription creates text that can be used to draft a lesson summary. Teachers can separately record a voice note after a lesson, and students can upload practice recordings to assignments. Those uploads are different from recording a video call.

Can students message me and submit homework?

Yes. Portal messages, homework assignments, and student submissions are included on every core plan. Attach PDFs, images, or audio, and collect notes or supported files in return. The practice library lets you reuse resources across students and track completion. Optional buddy rewards give students another reason to keep practicing.
